Who Refuses to Grow-up! 

     Sheila Pfeiffer, founder of Journeys Across Time is an educational specialist with more than 25 years of experience in curriculum design and content development. Sheila has created engaging learning materials for publishers such as McGraw Hill, Cambridge University Press, and others, as well as award winning interactive educational titles for technology firms such as LeapFrog and The Learning Company. In addition, Sheila designed the English language learning curriculum for Gymboree, which is being taught at nearly 200 play centers throughout China. Sheila is embarking upon her Journeys Across Time to offer parents and children a creative learning alternative for the summer...an Unforgettable Journey of the Imagination...believing that play is perhaps the best, if not the only way to learn!

 

  Daniel holds a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from New York University. He led arts-in-education workshops for more than a decade on the East Coast before relocating to California in 2009. Daniel has pioneered the use of shadow puppetry, an ancient Asian art form, in diverse settings, and has performed a one-man educational theater program for more than 100,000 students across the United States, as well as in Belarus, India, Laos, and Lithuania. As one of 43 teaching artists from across the country selected for inclusion on the John F. Kennedy Center’s National Teaching Artist Roster, Daniel has visited 17 states over the past two years, leading professional development workshops and conducting classroom modeling demonstrations.

 

  Torange is artistic director of Fairytale Performers where she has devoted her professional career to building cultural bridges with the Middle East through innovative and provocative theatrical productions. As a teaching artist, she has taught playwriting to youth and led acting and play development workshops to children and teens. Born in Iran and of Armenian heritage, Torange holds a Master’s in Theatre Arts and boasts a 25 year career in theatrical education.

 

   Sharlyn is a professional director, producer, dancer, and choreographer who founded Ballet Afsaneh in 1986. A prolific artist, she has choreographed dozens of new works and expanded traditional Central Asian art forms for contemporary theatrical venues including programs for San Francisco's M.H. De Young Museum, the Asian Art Museum, British Museum in London, and the Cabrillo Music Festival. Her dance company has been honored by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom for producing an annual event at SF City Hall, and is featured regularly in San Francisco’s Ethnic Dance Festival at the Palace of Fine Arts. She is considered to be a pioneer of Central Asian performing arts in the USA. Her decades of field research and study with master teachers in the US and Central Asia encompass a wide spectrum of diverse dance genres. This knowledge base and creative passion have enabled her to make a significant contribution at a critical time in history, both directly and through the ongoing legacy of her many students and collaborators.
